Lesson: Alien Abduction
What happens in the night air? 4.25" x 5.5" glossy card stock

Meadow Lg was stamped in with a Marvy #1 Black Matchable ink pad. Then the War of the Worlds type of UFO from Fistful of Stamps was stamped in black.

Cow Grazing was stamped in black in the meadow and Cow Pair was stamped above the trees.

To add extra texture to the meadow one of my favorite stamps Sedge Filler was stamped in black in multiple impressions.

Grass Textured meadow.

Here I'm applying a Ranger Sea Shells "Ocean Aqua" dye based ink to the scene with a Colorbox Stylus Tool. I left the areas around the three subjects light by not inking them. Those three subjects being the two cow images and the UFO.

I wanted to add an eerie feel to this scene so I dipped into the Ranger line of Distress Inks by applying the "Weathered Wood" color over the top of the Ocean Aqua.

Here comes the essence of what this scene is about. A beam of light would be key to telling the story of this scene. The beam would have appear as if it were defined by light so having a softer edge I believed to be important. Here I'm just using a paper towel to mask off what would be the right edge of the beam. With the Stylus Tool I began lightly tapping black ink into the scene.

Here the defining glow builds by adding more and more black ink.

Removing the paper towel mask here you can see how the beam begins to build. The left side of the scene and the meadow still need to be addressed.

The paper towel is placed on the left side of the scene and tone is applied.

The edges of the effects made by the paper towel mask needed to be softened with added tone. I added black ink at the base of the pine trees and added shading here and there in the meadow to add a little variation.

A fully realized scene "tonally" speaking.

I wanted the scene to look a little more rustic so I added the Distress Ink "Old Paper" over the entire scene.

Foreground was added using Reeds. It was stamped multiple times on the left and right side of the scene putting the viewer in a position as if we were hiding in the bushes watching this event take place.

Adding highlights to areas on the grass and rocks with a white gel pen.
